Steve Livernash has 35 years experience as an expert metal detector technician.  He started off finding vintage coins and jewelry in backyards, schools, beaches and underwater.  Steve has investigated numerous lost items and returned them to their rightful owners.  By analizing well over 1,000,000 metallic targets over decades, Steve has amassed knowledge in all aspects of ferrous & non-ferrous metal manufacturing and is a foremost expert in identification of metallic items from each of these industries, modern to ancient times. Based on his history, Steve is able to locate, direct and indirect, evidence at a crime scene and determine items that are unrelated to the time period being investigated. He has also originated detecting search profiles & has developed innovative tools needed to conduct a crime scene efficeintly using techniques developed through experience. He is the originator of CSI/MDT.com (Crime Scene Investigation - Metal Detector Technition). He is also an instructor of metal detecting techniques & trainer of proper equipment setups to be used in all searches from land & underwater.

 

Steve is one of the charter members, a past president and trustee of Mid-State Metal Detector Club and past president of the North Woods Metal Detector Club. Steve is a member of Title Town Treasure Seekers and Four Lakes Metal Detector Club. Steve is a member of the Wisconsin Archaeological Society, Badger State Archaeological Society and GIRS.  He is also a member of the GPAA (Gold Prospectors Association of America) Wausau, Tomah and Greenbush chapters. Steve has worked in association with Great Lakes Copper Research, Great Lakes Copper Typology and created the Great Lakes Copper Typology website.  Steve is one of six individuals that are allowed access to Oxford Federal Prison to locate and recover contraband made by inmates in the outside activity grounds.  Steve has used his knowledge of soil condition, pH testing and history throughout the State of Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan and Florida to base his determination as to when and where the item in question originated.
